Our legacy
We have a history dedicated to women veterans.
Previously known as CenterPoint Retreats, these retreats were established in 2011 for the express purpose of offering high quality, outdoor-based recovery services for female veterans.

In 2011 and 2012, a series of six 6-day retreats for OEF/OIF female veterans was funded by the Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act of 2010. This was a pilot program through the Department of Veterans Affairs. Those retreats, which continued until 2020, were directed and facilitated by the current staff of Rooted Within (formerly CenterPoint Retreats), at different locations around the country.
Two retreats in 2020 were cancelled due to the safety concerns of COVID. In the fall of 2024 and 2025, Rooted Within created opportunities to run retreats for alumni of the Military Service Academies. These retreats successfully put us back in the planning mode for 2026 -and beyond!

Over 475 female veterans participated in retreats with phenomenal results that were measured in longitudinal outcome studies.

The 475+ female Veterans who participated in these programs have shaped the structure and richness of the retreat format into the current delivery. These retreats offer opportunity for female veterans to reconnect to themselves, one another, and to life itself.

Noteworthy retreat outcomes include:

-
78% of participants reported a decrease in stress symptoms, as measured two months after the retreat
-
77% at two months post-retreat were using positive coping skills more frequently than before the retreat
-
88% showed increased scores on a measurement of psychological well-being.
-
Written feedback from participants showed an overwhelmingly positive response to the retreats, and the majority of participants made significant changes in their relationship to stress and challenging life circumstances after returning home.
2020 was the end of our contracted programs through Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act of 2010. Recent funding for the 2024 and 2025 retreats was secured through private donations and support from Military Academy Alumni Associations.
We are actively looking for VA support, foundation grants and additional sources of funding to continue these programs. With our recent 501c3 federal non-profit status, we are able to accept tax-deductible donations. We are fiercely dedicated to serving women veterans.
